4 Einstein Quotes to Inspire your Creative Side
If you’ve been alive recently, you know Albert Einstein — one of the most revered historical figures in the modern era. He is known most notably for his work in science, but he is also the coolest genius who has ever lived. Even in his day, people idolized him like tweens at a Bieber concert.
He’s been dead for about 60 years, but Al is still a rock star through and through. I always stumble across his quotes, and they never fail to inspire me. I compiled some here for your reading pleasure.
“Creativity is intelligence having fun.”
Einstein answered questions that no one knew to ask. A large contribution to his success, Einstein says, was being able to dream up a world of possibilities.
What I love about this quote is that it defines creativity into bite-sized chunks. Tap into your childlike wonder and solve the world’s problems. Envision a world of possibilities like Einstein simply by giving your brain permission to play.
“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”
We all know about Einstein’s E=MC2, but did you know Einstein had eight versions of that formula? Seven out of eight formulas, over a period of 40 years, were failures. Einstein was charting unmarked territory and had the redline edits to prove it.
A lot of us aren’t trying to revolutionize science, but I think this quote still applies. We often let fear dictate decisions and prevent us from creating something awesome. To me, fear is a great motivator because it’s an indicator that you’re headed in the right direction. For Einstein, the 40-year search for a breakthrough outweighed his fear of mistakes.
“Try not to become a man [or woman] of success, but rather try to become a man [or woman] of value.”
Einstein was a pacifist, yet he had a major hand in the outcome of WWII. Ironic, right? Late in his career, Einstein had written to President Eisenhower warning him the Nazis were building an atomic bomb. Eisenhower asked Albert to help the US create that bomb first. Although Einstein would’ve been awarded handsomely for his work, he outwardly advocated against it. Being unwavering in his beliefs, Einstein was listed as a security risk and removed from advising the project.
Too many times we are chasing opportunity or success that doesn’t belong to us. We try to be someone we aren’t, and we end up being successfully unhappy. This quote is all about authenticity and being who you are meant to be. Stay true to your values, and success will follow.
“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”
Einstein was obsessed with light. How it worked. What it was. How it was created. In this, Einstein was a master analyzer. He could look at light and shift his perspective to see it in new ways. These shifts in perspective allowed Einstein to see the Theory of Relativity.
This quote is self-explanatory. We often are bogged down in our day to day work. Find ways to challenge your everyday consciousness. Look at problems through a new perspective to create innovative solutions.
These are a few of the many quotes I could’ve shared. What other Albert Einstein quotes inspire you?
